Frequently asked questions
Can't find what you're looking for? Reach out on our Contact page.
Is LocalLift a government website? +
No. LocalLift is an independent, informational resource. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of any government agency. We reference publicly known program names (like SNAP or LIHEAP) only to explain how those programs generally work.
Do you charge for any of your guides or tools? +
No. Every guide, checklist, and tool on this site is free to use. We never charge a fee to help you find or apply for assistance.
Can you guarantee I will be approved for a program? +
No one can guarantee approval for any assistance program — eligibility is determined solely by the administering agency or organization based on your specific situation. We help you understand the general requirements and prepare a strong application, but the decision is always theirs.
How do I apply for a specific program? +
Each of our resource guides links to the type of official source you should use to apply (such as your state agency or a local nonprofit). We recommend always applying directly through the official channel rather than a third party that asks for payment.
Is it safe to enter my phone number to get updates? +
Yes. Opting in is completely optional and never required to use our resources or tools. We explain exactly what you'll receive and how to opt out at any time on our Get Updates page.
How often is your content updated? +
We review our guides regularly and update them when program rules or seasonal windows change. If you spot something out of date, please let us know via our Contact page.
What if I don't qualify for the programs I looked into? +
Many programs have different eligibility categories, and needs change over time. We recommend checking back periodically and exploring adjacent resource hubs — for example, someone who doesn't qualify for one housing program may still qualify for utility or food assistance.
